In summarising
the Intoxicating Liquor Act of 2003, the provisions on underage
drinking state that a person under the age of 18 shall not:
Purchase intoxicating liquor
Consume
intoxicating liquor in any place other than a private residence
Represent him/herself to be over the age of 18, for the purpose
of obtaining, or being permitted to consume, intoxicating liquor
Be permitted to enter a shop which is either a pure off-licence
or is a supermarket which has a separate off-licence unit which
sells mainly alcohol, for any purpose whatsoever, unless accompanied
by a parent or guardian
It is an offence for anyone under the age of 18 to be in the bar of a licensed premises after 9pm, unless attending a private function at which a substantial meal is served.
It
is also an offence to purchase intoxicating liquor for persons
under the age of 18 or to supply them with intoxicating liquor.
